Regulations
1.0 Special Regulations
1. After the Year Three courses, nursing students in the Bachelor of Nursing Science programme shall be required to take all courses offered within ONE of the three available programme options. The programme options are Primary Health Care Nursing, Community Health Nursing and Advanced Medical-Surgical Nursing.
1.02. Students in the Nursing Programme must complete the number of practical hours as stipulated by The Lesotho Nursing Council. For practicum, 1 credit hour = 8 clinical/community contact hours.
2.00 Nursing Practice/Attachment
2.01. Nursing practice combines Nursing Science and art of care, a humanistic blend of scientific knowledge, Nursing philosophy, clinical practice, communication and social sciences. Thus, to day’s nursing students must master an astounding number of professional concepts and skills. The purpose of proposed attachment is to equip the nursing students with the necessary concepts and skills essential in the nursing practice.
2.02. In accordance with the Lesotho Nursing Council requirements for registration, the nurses’ clinical experience other than that conducted during the semester will be 6 weeks from the beginning of June to Mid-July, every year of study.

3.01 Admission From Common First Year
Students who are admitted from Common First Year into Programs in Health Sciences must possess the following:
At least a “D” pass in Biology and Chemistry of the Common First Year
An OWM of at least a “D”
At least an “E” in Physics and Mathematics

Special Regulations
1.00. Entry Requirements
BSc Nursing General Nursing or Bachelor of Science from any recognized institution. Those who wish to study for Primary Health Care and Community Health Care must also be Midwives.
Candidates holding Diploma in General Nursing or its equivalent should be register able with the Lesotho Nursing Council and such registration must be maintained throughout the period of study.

Bachelor of science in Environmental Health (BSc., Environmental Health)
1.0 The Programme
The curriculum is for a four-year full-time programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science of Science in Environmental Health (BSc Env.Health).
2.0 Special Regulations
Subject to the provisions of the General Regulations for degree programmes of the University (NUL) and the Faculty of Health Sciences (FOHS), the following special regulations shall apply for the programme in Environmental Health.
2.1 Admission Requirements
For entry into the BSc Environmental Health Degree Program the following shall be the minimum entry requirements
A pass in the Cambridge Overseas School Certificate (COSC) examination or its equivalent with credit in Mathematics, approved science subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Combined Science and Combined Additional Science, as well as a pass with a minimum grade of D (7) in English Language. Human and Social Biology are not considered as approved science subjects for admission purposes.
Candidates who meet any of the under-mentioned requirements will be considered for entry into the 2nd Year of the program.
Pass the Common First Year examinations of FOST with an OWM of 50 and above and passes in Chemistry, Biology and Physics, hold a Diploma in Environmental Science or equivalent or Bachelor of Science degree from recognised institutions.
