Regulations

Nutrition Programme

1.0        The Programme

The curriculum is for a four-year full-time programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nutrition (BSc Nutr.)

2.0        Special Regulations

Subject to the provisions of the General Regulations for degree programmes of the University (NUL) and the Faculty of Health Sciences (FOHS), the following special regulations shall apply for the programme in Nutrition Science.

2.1        Admission Requirements

For entry into the BSc. Nutrition Degree Program the following shall be the minimum entry requirements

2.1.1     Candidates for entry into the BSc Nutr. degree programme must satisfy the entry requirements for first year Science Students in the Faculty of Science and Technology (FOST). The minimum requirements are:

A pass in the Cambridge Overseas School Certificate (COSC) examination or its equivalent with credit in Mathematics, approved science subjects, namely, Physiscs, Chemistry and Biology or Combined Science and Combined Additional Science, as well as a pass with a minimum grade of D ( 7) in English Language. Human and Social Biology are not considered as approved science subjects for admission purposes.

Candidates who meet any of the under-mentioned requirements will be considered for entry into the 2nd Year of the program.

Pass the Common First Year examinations of FOST with an OWM of 50 and above and passes in Chemistry, Biology and Physics

Hold a Diploma in Nutrition Science or equivalent or Bachelor of Science degree from recognised institutions.

Core Courses:  For Nutrition, all courses are core courses except the following, which are compulsory:

Bachelor of Pharmacy

1.0        The Programme

The curriculum is for a five-year full-time programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm)

Special Regulations

Subject to the provisions of the General Regulations for degree programmes of the University (NUL) and the Faculty of Health Sciences (FOHS), the following special regulations shall apply for the programme in Bachelor of Pharmacy.(Note: Review of the Department’s regulations that will introduce changes both in the running of the Pharmacy programme and the Pharmacy curriculum is underway. Please contact the Department or the NUL website for latest informartion on any changes).

2.1        Admission Requirements

For entry into the B. Pharm Degree Program the following shall be the minimum entry requirements

2.1.1     Candidates for entry into the first year of the B. Pharm. degree programme must satisfy the entry requirements for first year Science Students in the Faculty of Science and Technology (FOST). The minimum requirements are:

Pass in the Common First Year examinations with a proceed award and a minimum score of 50% in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics or Physics

Hold a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology in the merit or higher division.

Pass in International Baccalaureate(IB) examinations in Chemistry and Biology and either Physics or Mathematics with a score of at least 4 at higher level in Biology and Chemistry and 3 in either Mathematics or Physics at the same level.

Pass in Advanced level General Certificate of Education (GCE A-level) examinations with a minimum aggregate of 9 in Chemistry, Biology and either Physics or Mathematics
