F307-3              Introduction to Practicals in Translation

This course aims to introduce students to practical situations of translation. These include going to conference/seminar/workshops to observe the act of translating live. They would subsequently produce reports on the activities.

F308-3              Language and Translation

Students will learn how translation is related to language and how it contributes to the development of language in terms of terminology and vocabulary.

F407-3              French Phonetics and Phonology

It is meant to afford students the opportunity of getting familiar with French sounds and pronunciations so that when they start interpreting they can easily differentiate between words that almost have similar pronunciations. For phonology, students will have to make use of the Language Laboratory.

F408-3              Practicals in Translation/Interpretation

The course continues the content and pursues the objectives of F307. Students partake actively in translation/interpreting activities in real situations, where and when practicable. Subsequently, they are expected to register their impressions and perceptions of translation and interpreting, thus building new and innovative theories in the field.
