The Dean of the Faculty of Humanities – Dr. Beatrice Ekanjume-Ilongo - is a holder of a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Yaounde 1, Cameroon. She has previously taught in the universities of Yaounde 1 (2000 - 2003) and Burundi (2003 – June 2007). Since July 2007 to date, she has been teaching a broad range of linguistics courses in the English department among which are Introduction to Linguistics, Phonetics, Phonology, Morphology, Advance Grammar, Advanced Phonetics, Advanced Morphology, and research Methodology. Dr. Ekanjume-Ilongo also has a high profile of postgraduate supervision, as she supervises Honours, Masters and PhD thesis/dissertations. In addition to the purely academic responsibilities mentioned above, Dr. B. Ekanjume-Ilongo also has enough administrative experience, having served as the Head of English Department of the National University of Lesotho for six years, and being a member of several bodies within the university. She is a prolific scholar who has published several articles in refereed journals, and an author of two books. Her research interests include Phonetics/Phonology, Morphology, Sociolinguistics, African Linguistics Error Analysis, onomastics, and Pragmatics.
