Profile Chairman of Council- Ambassador Mokhele Rantsie Likate
Ambassador Mokhele Rantsie Likate has had a proud experience in University Administration, Government service, diplomacy, and in business.
Mr. Likate obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Government and Administration at the National University of Lesotho in 1976 before joining the Lesotho Public Service where he grew within the ranks until he became Acting Permanent Secretary in the then Cabinet Office. In 1980 Mr. Likate obtained his Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Southern California.
He was appointed Registrar at the National University of Lesotho in 1986 till 1992 when he went into business. He became the Chairman of the 7th University Council in 1996. From 2000 till 2006 Mr. Likate was appointed as a member of the Independent Electoral Commission in Lesotho. At the end of his term of office, he was appointed as Lesotho‚s Ambassador to Tokyo in Japan where he served from 2006 to 2009.
Ambassador Likate returned from Japan to resume his position in Moradi (Pty) Ltd a company in the construction industry where he is a founding member and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He has, after years of practice in other fields, returned to NUL and is again serving as Chairman of Council since July 2013.
