The University has a responsibility to provide recreational services to students so as to afford them a fuller and active lifestyle that will promote health interaction among themselves as well as leadership skills and a sense of loyalty and fair play. Students are therefore expected to participate in sports and other recreational activities. The Sports Office is responsible for the use and maintenance of these facilities. The office also engages volunteers to train or coach students in various disciplines.

Sports grounds and equipment
The University provides and maintains sports grounds and facilities. The University is looking into all aspects of further improving facilities and standard play grounds for all sporting disciplines.
The Dean of Student Affairs’ office receives at the beginning of every academic year, sports requisitions from the Chairperson of All Sports Committee. Every effort is made to provide appropriate equipment for all sports disciplines.
The University is affiliated with the following federations and students of the University of Lesotho are expected to participate in all games these federations organise:
- Federation of African Universities Sports
- Federation of International University Sports
- Lesotho Sports Council
- Eastern, Central and Southern Universities Sports Association
- Lesotho University and Colleges Sports Association
- Confederation of Universities and Colleges Sports Association.
Campus Sports Competitions
In addition to sports competitions with outside teams, the All Sports Committee or its sub-Committees arrange campus competitions. These competitions have proved to be very popular and quite exciting as they often involve those students who hardly appear or participate in any serious competitions.
