POST NO. 2115

LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER IN GENETICS

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biology in the Faculty of Science and Technology at the National University of Lesotho.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

We are seeking an energetic and innovative scientist with a minimum qualification of a Masters Degree in Genetics.

Senior Lecturer

• A Masters Degree with specialisation in Genetics.
• A minimum of six years of teaching experience at tertiary institutions.
• Evidence of research experience in Genetics in the form of referred publications,

OR

• A PhD Degree with specialisation in Genetics.
• A minimum of two years of teaching experience at tertiary institutions.
• Sufficient research experience in Genetics and capacity to initiate projects and activities relevant to the wider field of Genetics and Biotechnology.

• Evidence of research experience in Genetics in the form of referred publications.

Lecturer

• A Masters Degree with specialisation in Genetics.
• Experience in teaching at tertiary institutions and research and/or Ph.D. with a specialisation in Genetics will be an added advantage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach Genetics and Biotechnology Courses at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
• Supervise students’ research projects at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
• Conduct research and engage in relevant community service activities.

• Perform any other duties, including administrative, as may be required by the Department.

CONTRACT TERMS

The appointment will be on permanent and pensionable terms of service for Lesotho nationals and on two-year renewable contract and gratuitable terms of service for expatriate candidates, in accordance with the University regulations.
