Energy Resource Centre Holds Solar Open Day
As part of its outreach activities, the Energy Research Centre (ERC) of the National University of Lesotho is hosting a Solar Open Day on Thursday, 8th April 2021. The outreach activities aid the ERC to fulfil its overarching objective of Promoting 100% Clean and Sustainable Energy. The purpose of the outreach activities, such as the Solar Open Day, is to conscientise Basotho about the current renewable energy products which have a potential to improve their overall standard of living (health-wise and economically).
The ERC has realised that one of the major reasons for lack of widespread usage of these products is lack of information and hands-on exposure to these products. Therefore, the Solar Open Day has called upon companies that offer solar related energy products and services to come to the NUL Roma campus to showcase their products and services. Moreover, the ERC will showcase a number of solar products on its brand new mobile Solar Trailer provided by the warm-hearted financial support of the Austrian Development Agency through the SOLTRAIN project. The ERC plans to make similar Renewable Energy Open Days across the country now that it will be easier to demonstrate and carry products with the mobile trailer.
The Solar Open Day will have multiple stands manned by multiple companies and institutions demonstrating various products and services from 10am till 3pm. It is open to everyone. There will be no formal speeches other than a vote of thanks from the NUL management around 1pm to thank everyone for attending the demonstrations.
