It is an annual event, that the National University of Lesotho (NUL) holds an Orientation Week for new students to the campus during the first week of their arrival. This year, the orientation ran from the 9th to 15th September, 2022.
NUL Registrar, Mrs. Liteboho Maqalika-Lerotholi started by introducing the Vice-Chancellor’s entourage which comprised of the five Officers of the University, Faculty Deans and Directors of departments / units as well as the President of the Student Representative Council.
The Director of Students Affairs (DSA), Ms. Tholoana Ntene, assured the Freshers that the DSA’s responsibility is to look at their welfare when they arrive at NUL making sure that their stay at NUL is happy and healthy so that they perform well academically.
“There is not much to say, our journey together is still long. Please take good care of yourselves and never forget the main reason why you came to NUL. The DSA is your home away from home. Let me just say welcome Freshmen”, Ms. Ntene added.
In his keynote address, NUL Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Olusola Fajana expressed his happiness now that Covid-19 is no longer the problem unlike in the past two years whereby the orientation had to be offered to students in small groups in order to observe social distancing and other Covid-19 protocols.
“I am pleased to welcome you today, personally to the National University of Lesotho and I want to assure you that you made an excellent choice and you are at the right place that the Lord has made for you at this point in time. Many people have come to the NUL as freshers like you and graduate from the University as champions who join the work force or create employment to make a huge difference and are making waves all around the globe”, he declared.
The orientation programme introduces the freshmen to the University environment familiarizing them with both the academic and non-academic life on campus.
